Built in 1898 it is a local landmark - however, time and elements are weathering our beautiful St James Church in Thames. The St James Church is a Heritage One listed building, sitting on the corner of Pollen Street and Pahau Street.
A striking looking building, the exterior is deteriorating under the combined pressure of age and the wind, rain and salt air - plus the heat in our Coromandel Peninsula summers.
We are currently raising funds for significant repair and restoration exterior work on the western side of the Church and tower (the side that faces Pollen Street). Our target is $250,000 - and we can't start work until we are sure of funding.
